Forex demo accounts: what they teach and what they hide
A demo is free practice with one blind spot you need to know about.
What a demo account is good for
Learning the platform, testing a plan and finding out whether you can follow rules for a month. Trade the demo at the size you intend to use for real, otherwise the practice teaches nothing about risk.
Where a demo misleads
Fills are perfect and nothing slips. Real orders slip in fast markets, and nothing in a demo prepares you for how a real loss feels. Expect your first live weeks to be worse than your demo.
Trading forex and CFDs on margin carries a high risk of losing more than you deposit. Most retail accounts lose money. Nothing on this page is financial advice.
