How much can you actually make trading forex?
No promises here. Instead: the arithmetic that decides the answer, and what it means for a small account.
The arithmetic nobody advertises
Return depends on the risk you take per trade, your win rate and your average win against your average loss. Risk 1% per trade and win slightly more than you lose, and growth is slow and survivable; risk 10% to speed it up and a normal losing streak of five trades takes roughly half the account.
Why most retail accounts lose
Brokers in regulated markets publish the share of losing retail accounts, and it is consistently the majority. The common cause is position size, not entries. Anyone quoting you a monthly percentage as if it were a salary is selling something.
Trading forex and CFDs on margin carries a high risk of losing more than you deposit. Most retail accounts lose money. Nothing on this page is financial advice.
